2026 Unearth a Story™ Summer Reading Program

We are excited to announce Unearth A Story ™ as the theme for our 2026 Summer Reading Program!

All ages are invited to join us during the months of June and July to “dig a story” as we explore history, archeology, paleontology, and nature!

Registration begins May 26th and ends on June 26th. Click here to register!

You will receive a Malibu Bigfoot card when you register (online or in person)!

Register in person at Hopkins County Madisonville Public Library or Dawson Springs Branch Library to receive a kick-off kit while supplies last. 

We are kicking off our Summer Reading Program by introducing a new reading incentive!

This program contains all of our favorite things: magic, collecting cards, art, cute critters, imagination, and (of course) reading!

Preschool – High School!

We will use the same logs for preschool through high school aged readers! Color in a block for every thirty (30) minutes of reading/listening time! You will also earn a Reading Dragon (or friend) card for each block!

This group will earn a ticket for every thirty (30) minutes of reading time!

Grown Ups!

Yes! Summer Reading is for Grown ups, too!

Color in one spot for every thirty (30) minutes of reading/listening time! Or, if you’d like to collect Reading Dragon cards let us know!

Adults will earn a ticket for every hour of reading time.

The Teen Summer Reading VolunTEEN Program is open to anyone 6th grade -12th grade. You will play an important role in making our Unearth A Story program a success!

Volunteers will be trained for routine library tasks, reoccurring events, and special programs during the months of June and July.

Teens sign up for 1-2 hour shifts up to three times a week or as needed during special programs.
