The Pennyrile Dulcimer Players came together as a group in 2013. Weekly practices are held to prepare for performances in a variety of venues. In particular, the group enjoys playing for nursing homes and assisted living facilities. An assortment of string instruments is integrated with the mountain dulcimer to create a unique sound. These include the mandolin, guitar, bowed psaltery, autoharp, banjammer, flute, and percussion instruments. It is the commitment to practice, a desire to learn new songs, and a family atmosphere that keeps the group together. New members are always welcome. Currently, the co-leaders are Nancy Ratliff and Patty Simmons.
