What is Outreach Delivery?
The Outreach Library Delivery Service at Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library provides free Library delivery services to individuals who are residents within Hopkins County and are unable to physically visit the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library at either of our two locations in Madisonville and Dawson Springs.
Requirements and Eligibility?
- You must be a resident of Hopkins County and have a current Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library card.
- Whether you are at home, in assisted living, or in a nursing facility, you are eligible.
- Delivery and pick up is available to individuals unable to come to the Library due to mobility, health, and/or other barriers.
- Not sure if you qualify? Please reach out and speak to a staff member.
When are materials delivered?
Deliveries are made on Mondays between 10:00am – 2:30pm. Other times may be available upon request.
The outreach coordinator will notify users in a particular area when the service is unavailable due to weather, emergency, maintenance, illness, etc. You may also call the library at 270-825-2680 for scheduling requests and more information.
How long can I keep items?
The lending period for items borrowed through our Outreach program is 4 weeks. However, this program is meant to be flexible and created to benefit our community. There are no late fees for overdue items, however we ask you to keep other borrowers in mind and return items in a timely manner.
Can I place items on reserve? Can I renew an item?
Individuals using our Outreach Delivery service have the same borrowing capabilities as those visiting in person. Therefore, items not available at time of request can be placed on reserve and will be delivered as they become available. Additionally, items may be renewed one (1) time as long as they are not on a wait list.
What items are available?
The Library has a large collection of large print and regular print books, as well as many comics and graphic novels. We offer a wide range of audiovisual materials in the form of vinyl records, DVDs and Blu-ray videos. Recently, we have expanded our “Library of Things” which contains non-traditional lending materials such as cake pans, board games, and yard games.
